Firebird

You are a relative remedy -
standard of uncertainty -
constant ambiguity.

A gravitation equation,
I am drawn to you
like a star-struck constellation.

Charismatic magnet, elementary
in a vacuum,
your atomic molecules
drift into mine
a fine structure
of spectral radiance,

defined,

constant,

hummingbird
to the fire flower.

I just read this

in a book written by a friend of mine. It particularly resonated with me and I thought you might be interested to read it.

...'I am the Lord Captain - the last from all three lines of the Blood of Fire.' His voice did not change, but she heard the depth of loss. "Raven is a shortening of my real name, which is Aravenor." He looked down at the weapon in his hands, then back up to meet her gaze. "We have kept this for you for a long time. Will you take custody of your sword, Heir of Night?"

from The Gathering of the Lost, second book in the Wall of Night series, by Helen Lowe.
