Tinderbed

feel fire silk
wash flavours of absinthe
along the path

burning smokey rose
cinders where we roll
and rock
and rock
till light, too light

the torches brush us
white
on white

I've never tried it, but I was reading about it in For Whom the Bell Tolls, which I'm reading at the moment.

I find now that I've studied literature and gotten used to reading those kind of writers it's quite hard for me to enjoy 'fluff.'

I still read fantasy and sci-fi. I can recommend Garth Nix's series: Keys of the Kingdom. They're excellent. Zac and I both loved them. We both also liked The Edge Chronicles.
I'm a big kid at heart. I love escapist fairytale stories.

One of the best lectures I ever sat through was on Hemmingway. He's not really my favourite style at all, but I do appreciate the quality of his writing.

Try an Australian writer, Peter Carey. He wrote Oscar and Lucinda. They made a movie of it, but the book is fantastic. He's a wonderful writer.

Hmm ... maybe I've mentioned him to you before ... :)
