Synchronicity

What Do You Think About Dreams? Do you believe they can come true? Do you think they have any influence in our waking lives, or conversely, that our waking lives influence our dreams?

I think I believe a little of all of these things. Strange coincidences have happened in my life at different times. Lately, I was reading something, or mucking around online, or probably both, and the word 'sinshine' popped into my head. It may have even been a typo slip up in something I was writing.
It interested me so I wrote it down in one of my notebooks. A few days later I began reading The Bone People by Keri Hulme and blow me down, what should I see in there but the word 'sinshine'! It sort of stopped me in my tracks. I know it's a small thing, but what are the odds of that? I'd never heard of the word before as far as I'm aware. Strange sychronicity.

And then today, another strange synchronicity. I had a dream a couple of nights ago. A very strange muddled sort of dream which I don't remember all that clearly, except for one aspect of it. In the middle of whatever was happening, all of a sudden a huge glossy black bird, a raven I guess, or similar, flew past and looked right into my eyes. Now I don't like birds, but I wasn't afraid of this bird. It had very sparkly eyes and it seemed to be looking so intently at me. As though it was trying to communicate something to me. It had on a while ruffled jerkin sort of thing that was trimmed with red and had tiny gold bells on it that tinkled prettily as it flew. I know I know, weird huh? But it was a weird dream, so whatever. Anyway, today at work I was washing the floor at the end of my shift and I heard a tinkly, jangly sound. I knew what it was before I founf it. Caught up in my mop was a tiny golden bell just like the ones on the birds vest. How weird! Must have come off a child's shoe or something I suppose. But once again ... what are the odds of that happening at exactly that time?

Strange synchronicity. I wonder whether it means anything?

I have come across the "word" synchronicity you describe many many times, a word, either invented or simply rarely used, and you note it mentally at the time because it is unusual, occurring within days even upon the same day you first come across it.

I wonder if it is simply some sort of connection made to the word through the mind, its impending presence perhaps, which makes you take notice, which clearly leads you to it when it arrives.

It is a fascinating thought *soft smile*

As for the other part of your dream, the bell significance is also really interesting, almost tolling the arrival of a portent or event, the bird you describe just such an omen I suspect, it will be interesting to see if something momentous or even a small tremor of some sort, occurs in your life in the near future, I would love to hear of it if it does :)

oh yeah, birds and bells are both supposed to be sort of portents aren't they? Clever you! I'd forgotten about that.
The bird sort of reminded me of my father actually. He had a very clear, definite expression in his eyes that my father gets sometimes. I'll certainly let you know if anything momentous happens.
