The Gauntlet of Winter's Moon

Wrapped in a mantle of snowflakes
I seek my way through the pines.

I dare to be alone, although I shiver
at every stroke of wind to my cheek.

I will never join a host of vapid maidens
leaning their goosenecks towards the sun.

Pride may be my downfall, but whoever wants me
must forsake all others and seek only me

if he would share the warmth
beneath my glistening coverlet.

The moon bestows light
only in a clearing.

thanks Chris. *sigh* I dunno ... is it a bit ???

I'm not happy about that 'pride may be my downfall' bit ...

it sounds too self important or something

What do we have if not our pride?

No, I think its honest,
and no, I don't think its a bit at all.

I really like these ones of yours, perhaps, its the
giving of self involved.

I always told you
you are your own worst critic.

It a very good piece.
