The Parrot


In its eye the white freedom of heaven,

violet horizon a line in opposition

to the black bars of a cage.


The head able to hold just one thought,

memory of the lightness of feathers

adrift on a breath of wind.

Yes, well writ, I have always hated caged birds, it seems to be the most unnatural fate mankind could have thought up for such a beautiful creature.

yeah, that's what I think too. How cruel. Putting a bird in a cage must suck all the joy out of its life. How selfish to do that.
