This is a NZ possum. They're considered pests here because of the damage they do to native bush, animals and birds. They're hunted for their fur which is thick and soft.

that possum looks way different than the possums we have around here. Ours look like big rats. That thing actually looks friendly

well they have cute little pink noses and can be soft and cuddly. the babies are adorable, but if you get a wild one in the middle of the night who's a bit upset they can rip you up pretty bad.

we're very lucky in NZ we have no dangerous animals or poisonous things apart from the katipo spider which is only found on beaches and is only poisonous sometimes, and the white tail spider which has recently migrated here from Aussie.
we have no snakes at all.
